City of Pontevedra

It is located in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, in the autonomous community of Galicia and it is possible to reach from different airports such as Vigo Airport (Peinador), the closest to Pontevedra, A Coruña Airport (Alvedro) or Santiago Airport (Lavacolla), as well as Portugal, from Porto Airport (Francisco Sá Carneiro). It has been awarded and recognized in 2014 and 2015, with different awards worldwide, as one of the most comfortable European cities to live in, especially in terms of urban quality, mobility, and accessibility. Popularly called the “perfect city for pedestrians”. In addition, it has a collection of gold smithy, unique in Europe, with splendid jewels of more than 4,000 years old, found in the Museum of Pontevedra, and other architectural jewels such as the Basilica of Santa Maria, the Ruinas de Santo Domingo, and the St. Bartholomew’s Church.

On the other hand, we can visit the Cíes Islands, an archipelago located in the province of Pontevedra, at the mouth of the Vigo estuary. The Cíes Islands form the Atlantic Illas National Park: a paradise of paradisiacal beaches and crystal clear waters, with a unique natural enclave in these Galician lands.
